![]() He just had a distant disposition towards her and that offended her broke-ass sensibilities. Excuse me? He was not mean, or insulting, or bad tempered or anything that would make him the bad guy. ![]() And what did she do? Constantly insulted him and trying to back out of the deal because he was cold towards her. And on top of all that - he helped her sister’s (and her) new startup business flourish. He also let her live with him and provided all meals for her. She was absolutely broke and basically homeless and not only he paid off her student debt, but he bought her clothes and shoes and jewellery that she wouldn’t have afforded in 10 years if she saved up every pay check. While I’m not gonna say that he was some great paragon of virtue - he was just a normal guy who made a deal and paid out huge amounts of money for what was simply a few hours of her pretending to “love” him in front of someone else. She was inexplicably mean and childish in her behaviour towards the hero. The heroine was not likeable past the beginning of the book. ( Apart from some funny scenes here and there the plot just wasn’t very interesting past the 20/30% mark) ![]() It started to drag and then it just kept on dragging. I was hooked because I really wanted to read this trope and enjoy some light angst and funny bits. ![]()
